This year, as the United States of America celebrates 250 years of liberty, member Susan Armstrong has co-authored a patriotic new book with Vlasta Honolka, of Augusta.
The book, titled They Gave All For Freedom: the powerful true story of one family’s quest for freedom, and the two countries they served, was published in March. It is a triumph-over-adversity story of the Honolka family, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia to the USA seventy-five years ago, after many years under the Nazi regime, Communist Russia's occupation, in prisons and displaced persons camps.
Writing in a narrative, journalistic style, Susan draws from Vlasta’s personal memories as the youngest daughter in the Honolka family. She incorporates newspaper articles, family letters and other documents to bring authenticity to the story.
The book is now available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, in paperback and e-book formats. Locally, it is in-stock at Watermark Books & Cafe, in Wichita.
