"It Looks Like a Million" Book Design Award

The “It Looks Like a Million” Book Award will focus on the aesthetics of a book published by a Kansas Authors Club member. The book will be judged on cover design, interior formatting and design, and over-all look and feel of the book. Starting in 2018, an award of $100.00 will be given to a KAC member according to the rules printed below. Sponsor for the “It Looks Like a Million” Book Award is Mr. Mark Wolfson.
 
If it is the decision of the judge that none of the entries merit acknowledgment, no prize will be awarded.​

Guidelines for Submission:
  1. The contest is open to any Kansas Authors Club member.
  2. The book must be a minimum of 50 pages in length.
  3. The entry must have been published, issued in print, and available for public distribution within the two years prior to June 1, 2024.
  4. This contest is for books by independent (self-published or indie press) authors. For example, the author of the book (a KAC member) must be the primary decision maker for production, including design and layout of the book. Authors may have hired designers, layout, editors, etc.
  5. No entry fee is required.
  6. One copy of the winning book will be donated to the KAC shelves at the Spencer Research Library at KU in Lawrence. One copy will be donated to Mr. Mark Wolfson.
  7. The winner will be notified by September 1, in order to allow time for banquet reservations.
  8. The award will be presented to the winner at the KAC Writing Convention in October. The winner will be notified of details in advance. If the winner is unable to attend, the award will be mailed.
  9. Non-winners’ books will be available for pickup at the convention.
  10. Mail two copies of your book and your completed form by June 15, 2024, to:
