Book Award

The Kansas Authors Club Children’s Book Award was created in 2018 to honor the best book written with an audience of children in mind. An award of $100.00 will be given each year according to the rules printed below. The Children’s Book Award is sponsored in memory of Craig Grant. Craig was a champion of public education. He believed reading is basic to sharing our thoughts and feelings; understanding and accepting our differences and sameness; and helping us to learn about our world.

Deadline: June 15, 2021

Guidelines for Submission:

  1. The contest is open to any Kansas Authors Club member.

  3. The entry must have been published, issued in print, and available for public distribution within the two years prior to June 1, 2021.
  4. The book must be intended for young readers. This category includes everything from illustrated books for pre-readers to chapter books written with a pre-teen or teen audience in mind. Young adult novels should be entered in the Coffin Award contest.
  5. No entry fee is required.
  6. Two copies of the winning book will be donated. One to the KAC shelves at the Spencer Research Library at KU in Lawrence. The second to the public library in St. Francis, Kansas.
  7. The winner will be notified by September 1, in order to allow time for banquet reservations.
  8. The award will be presented to the winner at the 2021 Annual Convention and Writers Conference in Topeka, at the evening banquet on Saturday. If the winner is unable to attend, the award will be mailed.
