Mark’s search for Columba started when he purchased a stack of used books. One of the books was written and illustrated by Columba, a woman with a unique life. Columba’s legal name was Anna Bell Krebs Culverwell. Mark entered information about her on Wikipedia, which resulted in meeting members of Columba’s family. Columba’s granddaughter decided to reprint The Moon is Inhabited, which would include five pages of background material, which Mark Esping would provide.
None of the rest of Columba writings except for a cartoon book titled The Adventures of Skuddabud have been found.
At least the woman named Columba is no longer a total mystery. Mark is still looking for her other publications.
