Spitting into the Wind could be the name of a monthly Open Mic event currently in the planning stages by a committee of District 1 members. At least that name suggests the overall community prose, poetry and performance elements of the event.
For now, the committee is hoping to expand participation in the planning stages and seeks input from members in other districts who have experience with Open Mic events. The next committee planning session will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, March 15 at 9 a.m. The goal is to begin the open mic by mid-April, possibly in partnership with another organization or Topeka business. The district committee also hopes to alternate prose and poetry and have guest authors as facilitators each month.
